Prevention Division

West Pierce Fire & Rescue offers a wide variety of fire and life safety programs for the community. Below is a short list of some of the programs we can offer. Please contact us at 253-564-1623 for more information.

First Aid and CPR Classes
These classes are held on the second Saturday of the month from 9am to 5pm. The cost is $40 per student. Class locations rotate, based upon the month. Pre-registration and payment are required and can be completed by calling (253) 564-1623.

Custom Fit Helmet Program
Bicycle helmets are available for $7 and multi-sport helmets for $10, cash only. Helmet fittings are scheduled by appointment and the rider must be present in order to purchase.

Free Blood Pressure Checks
Stop by any fire station to have your blood pressure checked. Please be advised that when emergency personnel are out of the station on 911 calls, there may not be anyone at the station to assist you. Thank you in advance for your patience.

School Programs
Fire and life safety presentations are conducted each of the elementary schools throughout the fire district. Fire safety is taught to Kindergarten through 2nd grade, disaster preparedness to 3rd grade, how to be safe when participating in wheeled sports to 4th grade, and 5th graders are taught basic first aid.

Preschool/Day Care Visits
Two free curriculums are offered to preschools and daycares throughout the Fire District called Learn Not to Burn and I Spot Something Hot. Teachers conduct the first portion of the curriculum and West Pierce Fire & Rescue will come in to teach the final lesson so small children learn that firefighters are their friends.

Fire Station Tours
If youd like to bring a group to the fire station for a visit, please give us a call to schedule.

Free Smoke Alarm Program If your smoke alarms are not working, if they are more than ten years old, or you do not have them inside and outside your sleeping areas, please call us to schedule an appointment. West Pierce Fire & Rescue will come out to replace or install your alarms at no cost. This service is a grant-funded program.

Juvenile Fire Setter Program
Fire safety education is available for children who are misusing fire or playing with matches or lighters. Please contact us for more information.
