Basement Fire in Tillicum

Lakewood, Wash. – At approximately 12:10 p.m., West Pierce Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a residential fire at 8509 Maple Street SW in Lakewood. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the basement. The residents were safely evacuated upon firefighters arrival and there were no injuries during this incident.

It is unknown at this time if working smoke alarms were in the home. The fire is currently under investigation.
