March 27, 2018 – Introduction to Disaster Preparedness
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Pierce County Library Lakewood Branch (6300 Wildaire Road SW)
This presentation will offer an introduction to disaster preparedness. The difference between a disaster and an emergency will be defined and focus will be placed on disasters most likely to affect our local area. Reasons to prepare and an introduction on how to prepare will be shared in addition to discussion of programs and training available through West Pierce Fire & Rescue. The event is open to the public.

 

April 17 – May 5, 2018 – CERT Class – FULL
6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Classes will be held at various fire stations in Lakewood.  Up to 25 students will be accepted in this series of classes.  There is no prerequisite, other than a desire to learn and help others.  It is important that if you enroll, you will be available to attend all sessions to receive the CERT certificate.  To enroll, please call 253.983.4564 or cert@westpierce.org.

 

April 21, 2018 – Disaster Preparedness Day
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Lakewood YMCA (9715 Lakewood Drive SW)
This fun-filled day is open to the entire family and is held in conjunction with the Y’s Healthy Kids Day! Learn about disaster kit preparation and preparedness, plus the first 100 families will receive free items to start their disaster kit!

 

April 25, 2018 – CERT Quarterly Training*
6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at West Pierce Fire & Rescue Station 20 (10928 Pacific Highway SW)
This quarter’s training focuses on life safety rope training and will be taught by West Pierce Fire & Rescue Firefighters and Rescue Technicians. Please bring PPE with you. Space is LIMITED and spots fill quickly! Please RSVP to Valerie Marmolejo (253.983.4580) by April 11th to secure your seat.
