DESCRIPTION:Have you ever considered a career in the fire service? If so\, West Pierce Fire & Rescue’s Youth Academy is a great way for students ages 14-18 to experience what it’s like to be a firefighter. \nThis two-day academy will offer students the opportunity to learn about various disciplines within the fire service\, while gaining hands-on experience. \n2024 Youth Academy\nWhen\nJune 21-22\, 2025\n7:00 am – 4:00 pm each day \nLocation\nWest Pierce Fire & Rescue Station 21\n5000 Steilacoom Blvd SW\, Lakewood \nApplication Period\nApplications will be accepted from May 1-15\, 2025 and must be completed online. \nCost\nThere is NO COST to attend.\nAll equipment and gear necessary will be provided.\nBreakfast\, snacks and lunch each day will also be provided. \nEligibility Requirements\n– Age 14-18 by the first day of the academy\n– Live or attend school in Lakewood\, University Place or Steilacoom\n– Must be able to attend orientation on June 19\n– Must be able to attend both days of the academy\n– Parent or guardian’s consent (included in the online application) \nAcceptance\nAll applications will be reviewed and selected based on eligibility requirements\nand space available. Those who have not previously attended the Youth Academy\nwill have priority over those who have. \nTimeline\nJune 19 – Family orientation night\nJune 21-22  – Youth Academy\nJune 24 – Graduation ceremony \nClick here for more information.
