DESCRIPTION:Stop the Bleed \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAccording to a recent National Academies of Science study\, trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 46. Those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care. No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders\, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes\, therefore it is important to quickly stop blood loss. Launched in October 2015 by the White House\, Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained\, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. \nAll classes are capped at 30 students. SUMMARY:Safe Sitter Babysitting Class
DESCRIPTION:The Safe Sitter babysitting class is designed to teach students ages 11-13 how to be safe when caring for a child.  Students will learn how to run babysitting as a business\, childcare skills\, CPR and choking rescue\, as well as basic first aid. \nThis three-day class runs from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm each day and costs $45. \nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required. DESCRIPTION:September 17 – October 5\, 2024 – CERT Class\n6:00 – 9:00 p.m.\nClasses will be held at various fire stations in Lakewood.  Up to 25 students will be accepted in this series of classes.  There is no prerequisite\, other than a desire to learn and help others.  It is important that if you enroll\, you will be available to attend all sessions to receive the CERT certificate.  To enroll\, please call 253.983.4564 or cert@westpierce.org. \nTo see the station location of each class\, please click here to view the class schedule.  Registration is required.
