West Pierce Fire & Rescue

Lakewood, Wash. – At approximately 7:20 p.m., West Pierce Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a CPR call at the Legacy Park Apartments, located at 3502 92nd Street South in Lakewood. Firefighters arrived within five minutes to find a citizen performing CPR on a 7-year-old girl who was found at the bottom of the pool.

The child was transported to the hospital where she is in critical condition. It is unknown of the child’s swimming ability or the reason she went under water. The complex’s pool was crowded due to the warm weather.

Summer is a great time to be outside, but water safety is of the utmost importance. With this hot weather, it is important to remember to wear a life jacket, know the water and your limits. Adults should always supervise children in or around the water.
