Tree Cutting Incident Response

West Pierce Fire & Rescue

University Place, Wash. – At 1:10 p.m. this afternoon, West Pierce Fire & Rescue Firefighter/Paramedics, EMTs and technical rescue personnel responded to a patient with severe injuries after a tree cutting incident.

West Pierce arrived on scene to find a 29-year old man with critical injuries to his legs after a tree gave way and landed on him. The patient was treated and prepared for transport. The man was located near the top of a steep hill requiring firefighters with technical rescue skills to bring him down the hill to an awaiting medic unit. He was then transported to Cirque Park where the Airlift Northwest Helicopter was waiting to transport the patient to Harborview Medical Center.
