West Pierce Fire & Rescue Deploys Resources to Okanogan Complex Fire

Okanogan Complex Fire August 2015

University Place, Wash. – Resources are being deployed to eastern Washington to assist in the Okanogan Complex fire from around the region. West Pierce Fire & Rescue has not sent line firefighters to the area, yet four personnel have gone to assist at the command level. West Pierce personnel are filling various positions in the process, including public information, information from the field, as well as GIS and mapping.

These positions support vital tasks, such as providing information about evacuation levels, power outages and changing weather conditions, creating various safety and preparation messages, preparing staff giving interviews for press conferences, gathering information from the field and bringing it to the emergency operations center, as well as creating maps to assist with area familiarization and evacuations.

These individuals have extensive experience in emergency management and made themselves available and left to assist at a moment’s notice. All four are involved in emergency management at the local level as well.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue is proud of these individuals who have taken time from their families to travel to help others in need.
