Adventure in Boating Education Class

April 16, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Lakewood Police Department is offering FREE Adventure in Boating Education classes.

Current state law requires those 59 years of age and younger to have in their possession a boater’s education card if they are operating a powered watercraft of 15 horsepower or greater.  The fine amount for not having a card is $99.00 dollars.  The classes will be held at the Lakewood Police Station on the following dates:

Saturday, April 16                  9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday, May 22                      9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday, June 11                   9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Participants should bring their own snacks/beverages – only a ½ hour lunch break will be offered.  After completing the class, participants will be provided their certificate and application for the boater’s education card.  A $10.00 fee will have to be paid to Washington State Parks for the actual boater’s education card.  The card doesn’t have an expiration date so no future renewal costs.

Registration which is FREE as well is done through the City of Lakewood website.   For more information or questions, please contact Dennis Higashiyama at 253.983.7835.
