9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Twenty-five years after the tragedy of 9/11, we invite you to join us Friday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m. for a remembrance ceremony hosted by West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The event will be held at Reflection Park outside Station 31, located at 3631 Drexler Drive W in University Place. The ceremony will feature speakers from WPFR, IAFF Local 1488, the City of University Place, the City of Lakewood and more.

WPFR hopes to see the community stand together to remember the victims, support their families and honor the countless heroes whose courage continues to inspire us.

For those unable to attend, we encourage you and your families to visit Reflection Park on your own time for reflection. The park honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and features the “Weeping Wall” water memorial, with 403 etched grooves representing the fallen firefighters, paramedics and police officers.

At the park’s center stands a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, brought from New York to Washington by WPFR firefighters in 2012.
