Two Firefighters Receive Merit Awards for Heroic Actions
At Tuesday night’s Board of Fire Commissioners meeting, Battalion Chief Erik Morin and Captain Lisa Morin were awarded Merit Awards for their heroic actions on April 29, 2025.
While traveling through Utah, Chief Morin and Captain Morin stopped to refuel. While there, they witnessed a wrong-way driver collide head-on with another vehicle on the freeway.They immediately called 911 and rushed to the scene to assess injuries.
They extricated one patient from the destroyed vehicle and hopped inside the ambulance to assist the responding paramedic on the ride to the emergency room.
Their quick actions, alongside the paramedic’s efforts, provided critical medical care that helped ensure the patient’s successful transport to the hospital, where they were later flown via helicopter to a regional trauma center.
