Lowered Burn Ban
Due to cooler temperatures and a reduced risk of fire, West Pierce Fire & Rescue is lowering its burn ban, effective immediately.
Last month, WPFR upgraded its burn ban because of the statewide uptick in grass fires.
Under the updated burn ban, small recreational fires are now permitted. This includes outdoor fire pits, backyard fire pits, and outdoor fireplaces. Backyard barbecues continue to be allowed.
Outdoor burning is still NOT allowed within WPFR’s jurisdiction. Burning trash and/or yard debris is prohibited year-round.
This burn ban applies to all cities within WPFR’s jurisdiction, not just incorporated areas.
These changes match the restrictions currently in effect in unincorporated Pierce County, as well as the statewide burn ban. The state’s ban is scheduled to remain in place through Sept. 30, although the date could change based on fire conditions.
