Upgraded Burn Ban
West Pierce Fire & Rescue (WPFR) is upgrading its Burn Ban to align with the Stage 2 Burn Ban now in effect for unincorporated Pierce County.
There has been a countywide uptick in grass fires and urban wildfires. Because conditions are very dry and temperatures are forecasted to get even hotter, these changes will remain until further notice.
What’s changed?
- No recreational fires, including outdoor/recreational burn pits, backyard fire pits, or backyard fireplaces (these restrictions do not apply to pizza ovens, smokers, or propane fire pits on a non-combustible surface).
What remains the same?
- Outdoor burning continues to NOT be allowed within WPFR’s jurisdiction. Burning of trash and/or yard debris is prohibited year-round.
What’s allowed?
- Charcoal in grills, gas/propane grills and heaters, and pellet grills/smokers are allowed if they are on a non-combustible surface (like concrete).
