WPFR Responding to an Information Systems Disruption

West Pierce Fire & Rescue (WPFR) is currently experiencing a disruption to the department’s information systems as a result of a cybersecurity incident.

At this time, WPFR does not have access to certain systems, including department e-mail and non-emergency telephone lines.

Fire suppression, emergency medical services, and the 9-1-1 system are not disrupted and remain fully operational.

Upon detection of the unauthorized access, WPFR’s IT team acted immediately and is working with the FBI and other forensic experts to analyze and monitor the system, restore access, and determine next steps.
